10. Hashima Island, Japan

Hashima Island (or simply Hashima) is a coal mining ghost island that lies 9 miles from Nagasaki. The island was populated from 1887 to 1974, but people abandoned it as soon as the operations at the facility stopped. These days, Hashima is a fairly popular tourist attraction. By the way, this eerily ethereal island was featured in Skyfall, one of the Bond movies.
