A novel functionality is being launched to improve the usability of Google Chrome and the Google app on iOS devices. This advancement, announced recently, utilizes Google Lens to enable users to conduct visual searches based on items visible on their screens. Much like the existing Circle to Search functionality, which employs artificial intelligence to facilitate various tasks such as identifying on-screen elements, translating text, and recognizing music, this enhancement is set to improve user experience. The technology company has emphasized that this latest addition will also incorporate AI Overviews.

The visual lookup capabilities powered by Google Lens are part of the ongoing improvements in Google Chrome for iOS. With over 20 billion visual queries processed monthly, Google is eager to expand this feature, providing iPhone users with enhanced functionality. The new upgrade allows Chrome users to easily engage with the feature named "Search Screen with Google Lens," which is applicable across the entire app and all types of web pages.

Users can seamlessly highlight, draw, or tap on any item displayed on their screen to start a visual inquiry. This development means no more taking screenshots or switching over to the Lens app for searching purposes. To utilize this feature, just click on the three-dot menu found in the lower right corner of your browser. The "Search Screen with Google Lens" option will be available in the list, allowing users to select it and highlight their area of interest, which will then prompt a bottom sheet from Google Search to unveil relevant information.

Additionally, this functionality will also be integrated into the Google app for iOS. When navigating a web page via Search, users can access the three-dots icon located in the top-right corner to locate the "Search this Screen" feature, providing a fast method for visual searching.

Importantly, the integration of AI Overviews is designed to be automatically engaged whenever a pertinent query is posed through Lens. This feature streamlines the process of acquiring information, minimizing the need for lengthy scrolling or tapping on multiple links.
