Amazon Prime Gaming is granting its subscribers access to three Lord of the Rings-themed video games without any extra charges. This giveaway aligns with the countdown to unveil the second installment of The Rings of Power series on Amazon, premiering on August 29th.
Here are the game titles available:

  • Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor Game of the Year Edition
  • Lego The Lord of the Rings, accessible with a GOG code
  • Middle-earth: Shadow of War, playable on Amazon's cloud gaming service Amazon Luna, for those with Prime Gaming where Luna is accessible

I'm particularly keen on the Lego adaptations, so I'd suggest trying them out if you're new to them. Moreover, Lego's The Lord of the Rings encompasses the entire saga, unlike its counterpart, which centered on the Hobbit narrative.

Looking back, our 2012 appraisal of the Lego Lord of the Rings game praised it greatly. It was described as "enchanting and agreeable, true to its origins while maintaining a playful disregard, and bursting with engaging features that interconnect satisfyingly." Indeed, Dan Whitehead heralded it as a "new pinnacle for the Lego franchise."
