5. House of the Bulgarian Communist Party, Bulgaria

The Buzludzha Monument (named after the mountain it was constructed on) was built in 1981 to create a headquarters for the then-strong Bulgarian Communist Party. The building was abandoned following the Iron Curtain’s collapse. These days, this saucer-shaped monument to a bygone era is too expensive to restore, so it still stands abandoned, falling slowly into the inevitable disintegration.
